Color Turners
Color has the power to inspire, excite, heal, soothe, and even agitate. This is especially true for children, who can be extremely sensitive to color’s impact. So, the importance of selecting the right color for a child’s clothing or environment cannot be underestimated.
That's why, on the eve of International Color Day, I volunteered to be a guest COLOR speaker, at "Who's Your Hero?" at Los Amigos Elementary School, in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. We played with paint chips and fan decks, talked about color careers, color urban myths, Color Therapy and why some colors are more popular than others.
To my fellow design professionals, if you've in a slump and questioning your creative career path, then box up your color tools and go play with the children. Because there's nothing like being in the presences of enthusiastic, future designers to remind you, why you chose your career in the first place.
The mission of “Who’s your Hero?” is to provide youth development for girls aged 12-14. Through mentoring, coaching, recreation, and cultural activities, we will empower the girls to develop the self-confidence to make positive and healthy decisions, and to explore ideas while having fun. https://wotmnetwork.org
